Under-bed storage, made clearer

Find under-bed storage that fits your space.

Measure the gap under your bed. We’ll narrow the sizes and show what still needs checking.

Research & affiliate link notes

The seven product links identify the exact models and consumer packs described here. The separate search link has not been checked for fit.

  • Model, variant and consumer pack checked for each linked product.
  • Buying links are Amazon affiliate links.
  • Confirm current dimensions and pack count on Amazon before buying.
  • Published source disagreements, nominal soft sizes and physical-fit limits remain visible.
  • Source research describes published measurements, not firsthand product testing.

Verified product identity and source dimensions do not guarantee physical fit, usable interior space, seller performance or stock.

Research archive, methods & source records

Research archive. Only exact Amazon products with verified SiteStripe links appear as shopping options. Other records are excluded from shopper results.

Measure before you choose

Measure the space you can actually use.

A bed's overall width does not describe an unobstructed storage bay. Work from the floor and measure each bay separately.

Map one clear bay

Measure floor-level width and inward depth between legs and supports. Use the narrowest opening the container must pass through, rather than the mattress size.

Find the lowest height

Check several points from the floor to the lowest obstruction. Include rails, slats, carpet, rugs and changes in floor level. A higher gap at the edge is not enough.

Trace the whole route

Check the way in and out, plus nearby walls and furniture. A paper or cardboard outline can help map the footprint; it cannot confirm vertical clearance or real movement.

Measure the contents, too

Include the lid, handles and wheels in the container's outside size. Compare your contents with published interior measurements separately, and check room to open a lid or drawer.

Storage comparisons

Choose the footprint.
Then check the access.

These comparisons use sourced dimensions and practical access questions. They are research-based guidance, not firsthand product reviews.

Two 41-quart labels. More than six inches of difference.

Sterilite 2260 and IRIS 200430 both carry a 41-quart label, yet the IRIS box's published length is 6.255 inches greater. Capacity describes volume; it does not tell you which supports, opening or floor lane the box will clear.

A 19 × 34 × 7-inch example bay

The short end enters first and the length points inward. This example asks for 0.5 inches of total spare space per dimension. It is separate from any measurements you enter above.

All sizes are length × width × height, in inches. Remaining space is raw clearance before the chosen allowance.

Sterilite 41 Qt Storage Box2260 · item 22608006FMaker specification29.375 × 18 × 6

Published exterior. Reported bottom interior: 26.375 × 15.25 × 5.125.

Passes dimensional screen

Width 1; depth 4.625; height 1 remain.

IRIS USA 50 Qt Under Bed Box100802 · verified single unitMaker specification32.5 × 17.88 × 6.5

Conservative reported-size envelope. Maker and Amazon table width: 17.8; Amazon bullets: 17.88. Interior unknown.

Passes dimensional screen

Width 1.12; depth 1.5; height 0.5 remain. The envelope is editorial, not a measured tolerance.

IRIS USA 41 Qt Clear Storage Box200430 · maker single packMaker specification35.63 × 16.25 × 6

Published exterior. Reported interior: 32.25 × 13.5 × 5.5. Exact US Amazon listing unverified.

Exceeds measured space

Width 2.75; depth −1.63; height 1 remain. It is too long for the example bay before an allowance is applied.

A positive numerical screen is a reason to check the actual unit and whole route, not a guarantee. Handles, supports, floor changes, lid access and drawer movement still matter. Exact models and consumer packs are kept separate from capacity labels and manufacturer case packs.

Lidded boxes

Plan a place to open the lid.

A closed box can pass the height screen while its lid cannot open under the bed. Check whether you can pull it clear and use it in the available floor space. Known exterior dimensions do not establish lid-opening clearance.

Sliding drawers

The drawer needs room to travel.

IRIS 500347 and 588525 have different footprints and pack counts. Published drawer travel is unknown for both. Allowing room for the closed unit does not establish that a drawer will open past furniture or a rug.

Outside fit / inside fit

A box can fit the bed and miss the contents.

Use exterior dimensions for the bed-space screen. Use interior measurements for the things you want to store. Bottom measurements are useful for a tapered container, but do not describe every point inside it; approximate measurements are still approximate.

Sterilite 2246, for example

Outside: 23 × 16.625 × 5.875 in.
Reported bottom inside: 20.375 × 14.125 × 5.125 in.

The outside dimensions cannot tell you whether a specific folded blanket, rigid case or pair of shoes will fit inside.

About Measured Nook

Small spaces. Specific measurements.

A storage guide built around dimensions, access and exact product identity.

Measured Nook helps you compare storage options with the space you have. We use published manufacturer information and identified retail listings to explain which sizes are worth checking and why an option may be unsuitable. This guide is based on research, rather than firsthand product testing or physical measurements of the catalog items.

How the screen works

Each remaining gap is your usable dimension minus the box's outside dimension. A rigid size passes only when every gap is positive and at least the allowance you chose. You select which way the length points; the tool does not silently rotate the box or tip it on its side.

Centimeters and inches convert at 2.54 centimeters per inch. Bars show the share of each available dimension left over; separate axes are not drawn to the same scale.

How we handle uncertain sources

The research archive includes rigid containers, unresolved dimension conflicts and nominal soft sizes. Only exact models and consumer packs with verified Amazon links appear as shopping options. Minor disagreements use the larger reported value on each axis as an editorial envelope, not a manufacturing tolerance.

Approximate source measurements stay approximate. Major conflicts stay out of positive matches. The soft organizer's nominal size never confirms its size after filling.

What the order means

Rigid shopping options that pass the dimensional screen appear by smaller outside screening footprint, then lower height, then model name. Soft organizers appear separately with nominal-size and loaded-fit limits. Archive records without verified shopping links stay out of these results. This helps compare occupied floor area; it is not a rating of quality, durability, usable capacity, value or the best product.

“Consider if” and “Skip if” notes apply those dimensions and known uncertainties to storage decisions. They do not imply firsthand experience.

How to use the links

Amazon-only links identify the exact model and consumer pack: IRIS 100802 single, 500347 two-pack, 585066 six-pack, Sterilite 16558010 single, StorageWorks SW8001 medium ivory two-pack, Sterilite 14988004 White four-pack, and IRIS WeatherPro 585430 Clear/Black six-pack. The StorageWorks organizer is soft and separate from rigid dimensional screens. Maker shipping case counts are not consumer packs. All other records are audit only. A verified link does not guarantee physical fit, usable interior space or product performance.

Each source record includes its research-check date and may reflect an earlier crawl. Confirm the current model, pack and dimensions on the listing. No current price, stock, seller-authenticity or performance claim is made.

The calculator

The calculator uses the values in the form within your browser. Its code does not send those measurements to a server, save them in cookies or browser storage, or keep a record after a reload. There are no accounts, email forms or checkout forms on this page.

Page resources and external links

Page scripts, styles and diagrams are included in the file. There are no external fonts, product images, embeds or analytics scripts in the page. Opening a product or source link contacts that other website, which has its own data handling; the links do not include your measurements.

This describes this page's code, not the behavior of your browser, network, file viewer or linked stores. The page does not add request logging. It asks the browser not to send a referring page address when following a link.
